SAN DIEGO – Envision San Diego will host “The Race for Mayor,” a
debate and community forum with candidates Donna Frye and Jerry Sanders.
This live broadcast event will be held before an audience of 600
on Wednesday, November 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Performing
Arts Theater of the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, 6845
University Avenue. It will be open to the public and broadcast live
on television, radio and the Internet and will continue to repeat
for the week leading up to the election.
“That the largest collaborative effort in the history of San Diego media has been assembled to support this debate speaks to the significance of this mayoral election,” said
Ron James, Content Manager for SignOnSanDiego.com and a founding member of Envision
San Diego.
The public is invited to the event and can reserve a seat at raceformayor.kintera.org.
Seats are limited, so people are encouraged to reserve soon.
The debate portion of the program will include journalists directing questions to the candidates. It will be moderated by Gloria Penner of KPBS, and candidates will field questions from Fred Blankenship of 10News, Jessica Chang of Channel 4 San Diego, Perette Godwin of KSWB, David Rolland of San Diego CityBeat, Andrew Donohue of Voice of San Diego and a SignOnSanDiego.com writer.
The community forum will provide the audience the opportunity to
ask questions of the candidates. It will be moderated by Hal Clement
of 10News with the assistance provided by journalists from KOGO NewsRadio
AM 600, KPBS, Progressive Talk KLSD AM 1360, and The Daily Transcript.
KBNT’s Carlos Gonzales will be providing Spanish translation.
The debate will be broadcast live on KGTV Ch. 15, KPBS TV, KSWB TV, Channel 4 San Diego, KPBS FM 89.5, KOGO, KLSD, SignOnSanDiego.com, SDBJ.com, SDDT.com, SDCityBeat.com and VoiceOfSanDiego.org.
The community forum will be broadcast live on 10News, KGTV Ch. 15, KSWB TV, Channel 4 San Diego, KPBS FM 89.5, KOGO, KLSD, SignOnSanDiego.com, SDBJ.com, SDDT.com, SDCityBeat.com and VoiceOfSanDiego.org.
Both hours will be rebroadcast on Channel 4 San Diego on Friday, November 4 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 6 at 4:00 p.m.
The debate will be rebroadcast on Time Warner Cable Channel 19 on Thursday, November 3 at 12 p.m. It will also be rebroadcast on These Days on KPBS Radio on Thursday, November 3 at 9 am. It will be followed by a discussion about the debate.
The community forum will be rebroadcast on KPBS TV on Thursday, November 3 at 6 p.m. and on Friday, November 4 on Time Warner Cable at 12 p.m.
Both programs will be available on Time Warner Cable Channel 144 “San Diego on Demand.” Media
